2009 Indian Premier League , second edition of IPL


After completing the first edition of IPL in the year 2008, IPL committee was preparing for another successful season of IPL in the year 2009. This season is also known as IPL season 2. this tournament already got the title of second largest cricket tournament in the cricketing world after world cup. Unlike first edition second edition was of the tournament was hosted by South Africa and was played between 18 April and 24 May 2009.
 
Due to election at Indian at multi stats Indian government refuse to take any short of risk. Therefore BCB decided to arrange the second edition at South African Soil. IPL was hosted successfully by the BCB at South Africa and send the message to the global for arranging tournament all over the world. The tournament was particularly praised for globalizing cricket and had set record television viewership. Winner of the second edition IPL was Deccan Chargers while the Royal Challengers Bangalore was declared as runners-up.

Rules and regulation of the tournament is given below.

There were some changes applied at the 2nd edition of the IPL in the year 2009. In this edition number of foreign players enlisted was increased from 8 to 10. In terms of including in the game were remain same 4 players.  The players purchase cap was increased from 5 to 7 million. In this edition BCB able to convince ECB to give the English players permission to play at IPL and ECB allow the players for 21 days in between their tour to West Indies and the subsequent return tour.

At the halfway point of each innings, a seven-and-a-half-minute television timeout was now held. The change proved controversial, as critics and players felt that it broke the flow of the game, and because two-thirds of the break were devoted purely to additional advertising time

According to the point table after completing the group stage game top four teams of the point table group chance to play at the knock out stage at semi finals.

Semi finalist was Delhi Daredevils, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Deccan Chargers.

At first semi final, 23 May
It was the battle between the two giants Delhi Daredevils VS Deccan Chargers. In the toss,  Deccan Chargers won the toss and elected to field. DD made 153 at their 20 overs in the process of losing 8 wickets. In replay, Deccan charger got good start with the flaying strat by captain of the site Adem gilchirest. Therefor, Deccan won the first semi quite convincingly at 17.4 over by losing only four wickets. As a result Deccan became the first finalist of the 2009 IPL.

At second semi finals 23 may,
It was the game between Chennai Super Kings VS Royal Challengers Bangalore. In the toss Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and elected to field. In 20 overs  Chennai Super Kings made 146 runs at 20 overs by losing 6 wickets. In the chase RCB made the total easily by losing only 4 wickets. As a result, RCB became the second finalist at IPL 2009.

In the final at 24 may,
Two finalist were ready to get the trophy in the name of their team. Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and elected to field. Deccan charger made 143 runs by losing 6 wickets in their 20 overs. It was assuming that RCB would easily get the total at their 20 overs but DD made difficult and bowld extremely well to defend the short total of 143.

Deccan charger became the winner of the second edition of IPL at 2009.
