2013 Indian Premier League

Sixth edition of ILP was one of the memorable seasons of the history of Indian Premier League. In that season Pepsi introduced first time as the title sponsor at the tournament. During this season, in the final Mumbai Indians beat CSK by 23 runs and become the Champion for the first time in the history of IPL. Besides, due to match fixing three of Rajasthan Royals players found guilty and suspended for the life team by BCCI.
Opening ceremony
IPL is carrying the glory of arranging outstanding opening ceremony at every season. Opening ceremony was held at the largest cricket stadium of Indian at Kolkata and send largest at the world on 2 April 2013. . All nine teams, led by their captains, took the "MCC Spirit of Cricket" pledge. Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, was present at the ceremony. It featured live performances of American rapper Pitbull and Indian film stars Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone.

According to the rules of the play table toper will get two chances to qualify for the final. After the group stage Chennai Super Kings got the first position of the table following by Mumbai Indians.

21 may-Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi
First playoff match played between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. CSK dominate the match from the first ball. They manage to score 192 runs at 20 over’s only losing single wickets. In the process of chasing big total   Mumbai Indians fail badly and lost the game by the big margin of 48 runs. As a result CSK ensure as a first team at the final.
22 may-Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi
It was thrilling mach of T20 cricket.   Sunrisers Hyderabad made 135 runs only. It seems Rajasthan Royals would easily chase the total and move ahead to the semi but Hyderabad bowlers bowled  well and tried restrict the Rajasthan Royals team to get the total at 20 over’s but fail. Rajasthan Royals won the match by 4 wickets.
24 May — Eden Gardens, Kolkata
At the semi Mumbai Indians played against Rajasthan Royals. Both the teams were ready to give their best performance and make sure to get the place at the final. Rajasthan Royals made 165 runs at their 20 over’s in reply Mumbai Indians chase the total comfortably and win the game by 4 wickets. As a result Mumbai Indians got thechance to equal the equation against the CSK.

In final

26 May — Eden Gardens, Kolkata
Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bat. It was nice wicket to bat and put chasing passer to other teams. None other than Pollad played solid innings of 60 at 32 balls to make the total of 148 for 9. It seems CSK would easily chase the total of 148 but Mumbai Indians bowlers bowled really well and restrict the strong CSK batting line up within 125 runs. As a result for the first time Mumbai Indians got the trophy at their name.

  • Highest match aggregate: Royal Challengers Bangalore and Pune Warriors India at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on 23 April 2013 made 396 runs.
  • Chennai Super Kings show his dominance at T20 IPL by winning  10 wickets while chasing 139 against at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium,  Mohali on 10 April 2013
  • Most importantly Crish Gayle made 175 runs against Pune Warriors India at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on 23 April 2013. This is the record runs by an individual in any international T20 events.
2013 IPL was full of Ifs and buts but at the end full of entertainment. On 21 May 2013, Pune Warriors India terminated their participation in the league due to disagreements with their franchisee fees for the BCCI.
