IPL season 7 in 2014


IPL season 7 in 2014 was memorable one because of some curtail decision. This year title sponsor was Pepsi and named Pepsi IPL. Unlike previous seasons IPL 2014 was hosted by both Indian and UAE due to security matter regarding general election. It was started on 16 April 2014 game between Kolkata Knight Riders, fifth season winner, and Mumbai Indians winner of 2013 and ended with fantastic final played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab.

Opening ceremony

Like every season IPL committee successfully arranged lightning opening ceremony but outside Indian. More specifically ceremony was in UAE on 15 April 2014. Some of the Indian and international celebrities perform in the opening evening before the day of first match play.

Exceptions

Most important decision made by BCCI was hosting half of the tournament outside the India. Security issue was matter of concern, due to general election of Indian parliament, and On 12 March 2014, it was announced that the tournament would begin on 16 April and at least 16 matches will be played in United Arab Emirates till 30 April.

Unlike previous seasons, the auction was in Indian Rupees rather than US dollars. The player auction took place on 12 and 13 February 2014.

No similar to previous season this time eight teams are going to participate in season 7 on 2014. Because of financial issues team Pune been terminated in the year 2013. They played last game against Rajasthan royals.

According to the tournament format, every team must have own venue. Available venues were as follows.

Player Auction

According to the IPL governing council, every team allowed to retain maximum eight players and the rest of the players had to be sent into the auction pool. On 24 December 2013, the IPL Governing Council finalized the Player Regulations for the 2014 season. IPL council introduced new rules for the auction and for the first time Indian uncapped players were also into the auction. There is no minimum quota for catchment area player’s restriction. Alongside Yuvraj sing Dinesh kartik was the top beating player of that auction.

Journey to final

Season was not easy for the teams. They had to journey lots and quickly during short time. All the team members up of the challenge and show their character and gave 100 percent for the team. It was started on 16 April 2014 game between Kolkata Knight Riders, fifth season winner, and Mumbai Indians winner of 2013 and ended with fantastic final played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab. During that period, 63 matches played included play offs, qualifier and final. World have witness some of the great game of cricket.

Winner

Though tournament was started out side of Indian but back in home ground and finished with hosting final at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. Final was played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab both teams were consistent and deserve to get place in final 1 June 2014. KolkataKnight Riders won the toss and put Kings XI Punjab to bat first. They really bat well and post 199 at their 20 over’s. In replies Kolkata Knight Riders opener stated well finished well by the lower order batsman. They chase the massive total of 200 for 7 in 19.3 over. Kolkata Knight Riders won the final by 3 wickets and become the champion of PEPSI IPL season 7 in 2014 for the second time.

Achievement

Like other season this season was some highlighted for some of the excellent performance in 2014 PEPSI IPL season 7. In terms of personal achievement cricketing world witness some heroic performer in batting and bowling.

Robin Uthappa, one of the star batsmen of IPL, score 660 runs with excellent batting average of 44.23 with wonderful strike rate of 137.78 and that made him most run getter winner of the season.

Mohit sharma, right arm first medium bowler of India, got the highest wicket in the season of 2014. He took 23 wickets in 16 matches with average of 19.56 only.

Moreover, Wriddhiman Saha, Kings XI Punjab right handed batsman, became the first Player to score a century in an IPL final.

Manish pandey, KKR finisher, was given player of the final for his knock.

In all the perspective IPL season 7 in the 2014 was a successful one.
